Privacy and Security in the Metaverse, a Webinar Series

I hate the idea that Facebook will lead the Metaverse (see my post). I am opposed because I think their privacy practices are terrible. I did not come to that conclusion lightly. I am the type of person that always gives the benefit of the doubt.

But not in this case.

Years and years of disappointment, over and over again, brought me to this conclusion, especially considering the size and intelligence of their privacy team. If you don’t know, it is huge and full of incredibly talented professionals. So, I don’t blame them.

I blame the CEO and COO. I believe privacy by design has to come from the top.

As I sat in my chair about a month ago seething over the idea that they have all this money and can effectively strong arm their way to leading the Metaverse, I thought, “what does privacy mean in the Metaverse?” This thought led me to a post on Linkedin. Since my business focuses on privacy and security, I threw in “and security” to my query.

You must understand, 4,562 views is way above normal for me, which I took as an indication of strong interest. And, putting my money where my mouth is, since more than 50 people responded that they did want this webinar, it’s on.

The first one is February 3, 2022 and is an overview of what the Metaverse is, discussing things like NFTs, DAOs and identity.

I can’t wait to explore these critical infrastructure concepts for this digital universe with you. Let me know in the comments if there are any topics you want to hear about.

You’re the best, Caroline
